Flour City Hockey Club is a community of hockey players based in Rochester, NY who are brought together by their common interest in the sport.
We get together regularly for pick up hockey, skills development and competitive play. We’re always open to new players of all skill levels who want to join us for a skate!
Flour City Hockey Club was founded in 2021 by Shane Bertou. Shane was a charter member of the Rochester Inferno hockey club and skated with the team from 2012 through 2020. He started the team’s Novice program and served as captain for their three IAHL Novice teams at various times during his tenure.
Over the years Shane got to know many other players and team captains in the Rochester area and began scheduling non-competitive pick up skates outside of league play – just for fun.
Attendance for the pick up skates grew quickly, with nearly 300 people participating in hosted events in 2020. With a desire to focus more on cultivating the community that was beginning to take form through pick up play, Shane made the decision to step away from Inferno to form a new club.
The the Flour City club has exciting plans to bring fun and memorable hockey experiences to players in the Rochester community in 2021. We look forward to meeting you at our next skate!
